Joshua Free has received personal mentorship his entire life from Christian Gnostics, Rosicrucians, Freemasons, members of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, O.T.O., A.A.. Eventually he even started leading his own Gnostic Druid organization at the age of 12. At such an early stage of development, Joshua Free was heralded the youngest initiate to join the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids, an international organization that New Age authors frequently site. In high school, Joshua maintained leadership of a small research group, the Elven Fellowship Circle of Magick (EFCOM) in Denver from 1998 until 2001 (under the name “Merlyn Stone”).
After becoming a controversial figure (better known as Merlyn Stone) that advocated Druidic Gnosis and diverse approaches to Druidry, he was unseated from his position while still a teenager.
Before returning to the mainstream, Joshua Free spent fifteen years exploring esoteric sects of society, underground counter-culture and contemporary academia. Choosing a more individual path, preferring personal apprenticeships as opposed to direct membership in varying organizations, his all-encompassing pursuit has been to unify the knowledge of the “metaphysical universe”.
