“Necronomicon Gnosis” by Sortileges
excerpted from:
New Babylon Rising, Issue #3, March 2012
Sortileges is the Mardukite Arch-Bishop Patesi of Canada responsible for the french translation of the “Book of Marduk by Nabu” as “le Livre de Marduk par Nabu” and whose writings have appeared in such works as “Babylonian Myth & Magic” (Liber 51) as well as its correlating appearances as “Gates of the Necronomicon” (anthology) or the new “Babylonian Magick for Beginners” in addition to “Nabu Speaks!”, all available from the necrogate bookshop

I am going to relate my own first encounter with an Anunnaki being. While some readers may assume that all this is merely the result of imagination, I can tell that this experience completely transcended what is perceived as imagination, which is the mark of true Initiation. It happened some years ago, before I even heard of Joshua Free and the Mardukites. I was heavily involved in working with Solar/ Air spirits seeking knowledge of my Higher Self. (Sortileges, as featured in New Babylon Rising, Issue #3)

So there I was, sitting daily in darkened isolation inside my really small ritual room. The basic goal was to project myself through a black mirror into some Higher plane where I would discover some hidden wisdom about myself. I understood that the mirror was used as a focal point, and the best way to reach what I intended was to lift myself upward. The practical means to do so was to first cast a circle, then activate the Earth Gate via the Elements, then quite brutally throw myself up in Heaven (I would now utilize other methods, my awareness being wholly different than from back then).

The Plane I indeed reached was like an infinite light blue sky radiating a golden aura in which I was floating freely. There were clouds in the far distance, and whe-rever I flew, I could never reach them. I went there daily for some weeks, with no definite results aside from being re-freshed by this hidden light. Then, one night, again reaching the golden sky plane, I saw a shape in the distance. I clearly remember it’s features: it had no skin, only some flesh-like substance akin to crab flesh; it was white and yellow; it’s whole naked body was without legs, only some kind of tail, and large wings; it also did not have any facial features and seemed to be without a gender as well; it carried a sword radiating with strong, warm light.

From then on, every time I reached the sky plane, I saw this being. It would always remain silent. When I sought to unite myself with it’s energy, it covered me with it’s huge wings and carried me ever upward, until we reached what seemed like a huge sun, in which I thought I’d get consumed right away if I entered it. I was reluctant and fell back several times when near this force.

Eventually, I asked the entity to let me look through it’s eyes. What I was allowed seeing was bizarre and hard to describe; I was still somewhat floating, yet there seemed to be no up or down; no ‘directions’. I saw shapeless forms, moving – total nauseating confusion. The only thing I’m sure of when into this state, is that the whole was an electric green.

Throughout the month I repeated this. I grew closer to that plane and it’s entity, and one night, being again near the big sun the entity always brought me to, I felt my ego dissolve while my spirit raised itself right through the sun, immersing my being in overwhelming light.

INANNA ISHTAR ISIS – Sumerian Gods & Babylonian Anunnaki Mardukite Profiles

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

Each month, our periodical publication New Babylon Rising magazine focuses on the background of a specific member of the Anunnaki or else a figure that appears predominantly in a certain tablet cycle.

For the Spring Akitu March 2012 Issue #3 of New Babylon Rising, the featured Anunnaki God/Goddess or Sumerian/Babylonian figure profiled is infamous INANNA-ISHTAR: GODDESS OF STARS.

INANNA (Babylonian: ISHTAR)

”Perhaps one of the most commonly known of the energetic currents of the mystical planets is the Venusian one dedicated always to the “goddess of love and war. This determined goddess was sure to receive her place among all ancient pantheons: Isis, Aphrodite, Ashtoreth… and she is also known as the “goddess of witches,” celebrated in their rites.” (Extracted from Liber-W)

“Our epics describe the ascent of Inanna up the pantheon, but in Babylon she was firmly established as Ishtar in this position, by the request of Marduk to appease her.” (Book of Marduk by Nabu – Liber-W)

“Discord between lineages erupts when Ishtar and Marduk were not united and each took it upon themselves to elevate their own positions among our “younger pantheon. Clearly, the Venusian current (and that of Jupiter) are extremely powerful and determined. They are not always blatant forward with their executions, such as you might find with the Sun or Mars, but they store mass amounts of energy for eventual release at the most “propitious” or favorable times.”

“Ishtar may be invoked to channel energies directed toward the acquisition of desires. (A wise one will be certain this is for their higher good first.) Her number is 15. Colors are green, yellow-green and white, and her elements are water and earth.” (Extracted from Liber-W)

“Known to the Egyptians as the “Goddess of Ten Thousand Names,” the position of Queenship to Heaven is actually maintained by one of the younger pantheon in both Sumerian and the later Chaldeo- Babylonian systems.” (Liber 50)

“Being the daughter of Nanna and Ningal – the Sumerian aspects of the Moon – and the twin to Samas (Shamash), this title of high esteem is passed onto the young Lady of the Stars due to her unequaled beauty and cunning use of divine politics. In Sumer, she is introduced in the literature as IN.ANNA [“Lady of Anu”].” (from Sumerian Religion – Liber 50)

“The first presence of Inanna/Ishtar in Egypt is mentioned in the Edfu text dealing with the First Pyramid War. Called there Ashtoreth (her Canaanite name), she is said to have appeared on the battlefield among the advancing forces of Horus… as long as the fighting was only between the descendants of Enki, no one saw a particular problem in having a granddaughter of Enlil around. But after the victory of Horus, when Seth occupied lands not his, the situation changed completely: the Second Pyramid War pitched the sons and grandchildren of Enlil against the descendants of Enki.”
Zecharia Sitchin
Wars of Gods & Men, 1985

Inanna quickly rises to the status of archetypal goddess on earth. She represents both the “goddess of love” and the “goddess of war” simultaneously, giving her significant domain in the physical world. Given this, she was favored by the masses who adored her for her influence. In spite of her name, she was originally only given the designation of five, but replaces the position of fifteen held by Ninmah (Ninhursag) in the elder pantheon. She was installed as the primary goddess in Assyro-Babylonian traditions with the name I.STAR (or Ishtar) or “supreme goddess” [as istari is actually an Akkadian word for “goddess”]. (See Liber-50 or Liber-C)

Assyrian art depicts Inanna-Ishtar with wings. The same winged form also graces her Egyptian form as Isis. Clearly she was a goddess of the aerial world, not only the “Anunit-(um)” [“Anu's beloved”] but literally the skies. Seven objects are connected to Ishtar and her aerial travels. Similarly, there are seven garments and ornaments removed during her “descent to the Underworld.”

The genealogies of Sumer show Inanna as born into the fourth generation of Anunnaki gods [daughter of Nanna, born of Enlil, son of Anu] and is therefore the great-granddaughter of Anu. She receives a special place in his heart, which is surely beneficial in her rise to power, but more than this, Inanna is a very actively determined goddess who stops at nothing to acquire what she deems rightfully hers. If she wants it, she will take it. In the mythic cycles, this includes “decrees of heaven,” “decrees of earth,” “secret names of gods” and everything in between.

These powers she used (quite effectively) to win the eternal loyalty of mortals in exchange for granting select worldly desires. The kings who she favored, she would stand beside in battle and those who she did not (or who fell out of favor) she would lend aid to the opposing side, showing that the “goddess of love” is not to be scorned.

Joshua Free (continued): We started publishing our materials not because we wanted to make a whole bunch of books but because we felt it necessary to begin cataloging as time went on. Originally they weren’t available to the public at all. For the first couple of years, if you weren’t pretty intimately involved, the you didn’t know that we were doing it. It has since expanded considerably, but even that, you mentioned that there were twenty or thirty books.
It is important when people go to look at those that they pay carefully attention to the descriptions for the works, because a lot time what we would do is, during the course of the year there might be several manifestos that came out as they were developed that could be used to work through the year more easily. So, we would put them out there, people could use them in the course of that year’s study and research. When enough of that had been culminated we would put out anthologies so that it would be not only more economical in a single volume, but it was prestigious for the people that were working on it to see this kind of stuff come into manifestation.

(46:30)

Of the thirty titles, there are probably maybe fifteen or so actual individual books that I have written over the course of the years. A lot of them have been put together to make anthologies which compose a lot of the other titles. I want to make sure to say this so when people see this they are not overwhelmed by the work we have done.

In answering that too, though, I’m just now – it should be available within the week or so – we’re actually answering a ‘call’ that many people have put out to produce a monthly periodical; a magazine; that is dedicated to the work. This not only helps bring out the new information and findings easier, but also to break down what has become volumes and volumes of information into a synthesis that people can absorb a little easier. Also, with our economic age, it can be difficult to sometimes always go out and get all of these books, whereas incrementing it in a monthly form, it will really help bring it to people more accessibly then we have even before.

And that is what a division of our group, which from the publishing company perspective, we were focusing on the birth of cuneiform tablets and the language; our focus has just kind of remained with that: – interpreting and translating written work and transferring it in the literary form. I’ve done YouTube and lectures and workshops and all of that, but it really comes back to the writings and the books, whether our own or clay tablets.

(48:40)

The Judeo-Christian tradition isn’t so much like that, because you have a few people that are actually ‘with’ the writings and then you have enough other people; parents give it to us, or we go to Sunday School and so forth. In this day in age, if you want to get to next step as it stands right now, it requires a little bit of an initiative, just because it is not so commonplace and it is not so present yet in our world.

This is changing. I mean, more people are becoming ‘apt’ to this every day, but still it will require more of this. In addition to the other books, I believe amazon has agreed to carry the magazine as well. So, I believe it will break it down in an economical and concise way without always having to dig into the archives of books. We’re trying to think of everything and every way that we can relay it that makes sense.

(50:00)

Royce Holleman: Does your website have membership attached to it so that it could have forums people can join and discuss?

Joshua Free: There is a forum. There is a link. In addition to the website you mentioned, we also have our library at mardukite.com, so it’s easy to type in and get there. But, yes, there is a forum. It does require to contact us, for some of the obvious reasons. The work we do, is not of course, necessarily popular among everybody and to avoid a lot of stuff, it requires someone to contact us from that page to join, but there is a link to it from there.

As far as membership. We are not really about titles and fees and keeping track of where people live, and all of that kind of stuff. We do have people that participate with us and we call them members, but there aren’t any fees or titles really connected too much with that…

Ancient Aliens Theorists Reject Answers, Prefer Endless Theory | Joshua Free Part X

Joshua Free (continued): By the time of the Babylonians you have for the first time a magical tradition among the people; you have people being able to conduct rituals on their own to petition the gods using, basically, Marduk’s usurpation of power. And so you have a new ‘vision’ of the pantheon. They are known sometimes as the Seven; it’s related to the Seven main ‘stages’ or ‘gates’ of the ziggurat in Babylon. There is a different way of perceiving the world then there was before. Of course, what that opens up the door for is further ‘fragmentations’ from that. And so, if it ‘can be done once’, then it ‘can be done again’, and so for thousands of years since we’ve seen evolving traditions and spirituality and ways of viewing things.

Each one in and of themselves – it seems to valid itself because it uses semantics or vocabulary to its own system so that it can make sense – but, all of humanity and all of civilization in that respect has a singular unifying source that becomes evolved from and branched out from the tree from, and I guess in the time frame that we have here on earth and what we are given, it has just made the most sense to me to go back to that.

So, I don’t really want to say that verbatim, I am reconstructing or personally adopting a revival of the Babylonian or Anunnaki religion as it once was, but rather ‘reconstructing’ what it actually was and reevaluating what I believe, what anyone, can perceive of their reality or beliefs about “religion” for lack of a better word.

(43:20)

I try to avoid the ‘religion’ topic. We started the group officially in 2008 as Mardukite Ministries, and unfortunately with the use of – we use the ankh and a lot of, you know, we talk about ‘religion’ a lot – it kind of makes it appear that I can’t separate between a ‘religion’ and a ‘science’ or a ‘mysticism’ or whatever, because they are all the same, they are just different words. “Religion” as a word raises a lot of flags with people, so I’ve tried to steer clear of that, but I think it does validate what people believe about their own – or that they could have a better understanding about their own – perception of religion.

Unfortunately, even just adopting the term ministries, you mentioned, of course, the “Ancient Aliens Theory”, and this is something that’s becoming increasingly popular because of the recent ‘History Channel’ show.

Royce Holleman: Yes.

Joshua Free: What actually kept me from being involved with that show is the adoption of, for example, the term ministries. They felt that I run an ‘alien cult’ and that we are not intellectual in this at all or pursuing it academically, they think we just are these ‘religious fanatics’ that are like ‘let us worship aliens’, and I’m just like ‘Wow!’, apparently I have not relayed my message clearly.

Royce: [laughs]

(45:00)

Joshua: It makes me stop to think, is that not what other people might also being thinking, which is preventing them from looking into the work we are doing.

We started publishing our materials not because we wanted to make a whole bunch of books but because we felt it necessary to begin cataloging as time went on. Originally they weren’t available to the public at all. For the first couple of years, if you weren’t pretty intimately involved, the you didn’t know that we were doing it. Sumerian Anunnaki Religion & Spirituality, Cuneiform Tablets & Babylonian Magick
an evening with Joshua Free
PART IX

(37:30)

Joshua Free (continued): It [the Enuma Elis] describes an ancient primordial dragon that rises from the ‘abyss’ that eventually gives birth to a race of gods. The gods further reproduce; several generations are described; and then it says that they ‘grew too noisy’. As a result there is a plot this dragon Tiamat has to destroy her children, the Anunnaki. Well, actually Anunnaki means ‘those who came down from heaven to earth’ and this is prior to them coming to earth, so it is the figures later referred to as Anunnaki. So the Anunnaki petition Marduk to fight on their behalf against the ‘ancient dragon’. And he says, ‘well, if I do all of this, you will have to make me king among you since none of you are going to do this.’ And according to the tablets they agree to this. He goes and slays the beast. This is where we get the version of ‘he slays it in half and uses the head to form the heavens and the body to form the earth’ of this therefore fragments existence to make possible a physical reality, rather than a purely ‘ethereal’ or ‘spiritual’ one.

This story is the basis of so many other ‘myths’ or ways of interpreting our creation ever since. From the universe is a dragon or slaying the dragon to show supremacy. These things all are very metaphorical. There are a lot of chronological – looking at the actual tablets academically – there are a lot of reasons why, even if we assume the history of the Anunnaki to be correct, there are a lot of reasons why this event, this dragon-slaying or war-in-heaven as it is relayed to us this way, did not take place. It’s more concerned with the politics of the Anunnaki and their life.

(40:00)

More importantly, it created a religious fragmentation that had never existed before. Prior to this in pre-Babylonian times you have a very simplistic Enlilite – just, things are the way they are, created to serve the gods and whatever they needed and we are kind of left to ourselves later with the kings put in place.

In Babylon you have the first alteration of that and separation where rather than a pantheon being observed the way it had been peacefully for so long – now you have Marduk appearing as the ‘King of the Gods’. It’s easy to sit back and think that these people are being dishonest, but all of the things that came from this; it is why all of the things in our world are the way they are today, for better or worse.

It’s bringing the knowledge and power and mysticism and access to spirituality down to the people. This is something unheard of before. Prior, people would go to the temples and the priests were the only ones who could petition to the Anunnaki on their behalf and bring the offerings to the temple where that deity was assumed to reside or frequently visit and a statue or representation was left in its stead.

(41:20)

By the time of the Babylonians you have for the first time a magical tradition among the people; you have people being able to conduct rituals on their own to petition the gods using, basically, Marduk’s usurpation of power. And so you have a new ‘vision’ of the pantheon. They are known sometimes as the Seven; it’s related to the Seven main ‘stages’ or ‘gates’ of the ziggurat in Babylon. PART VIII

Joshua Free (continued): The organization that I run is called the Mardukites. That is tied into Babylon and the literary tradition that started there. But, even in saying that, to call Mardukites a religion or to say its my religion – well, it’s easy to do because it seems to fit that description or that way of understanding the world of religion, but it’s not necessarily based on, for example, a religious devotion toward Marduk.

(34:30)

What it does, is go back to the original meaning behind it and how religion was formed. So rather than adopt a specific religious ‘fragment’ or ‘sect’, it allows one to look at all of them and see how it came to be. It’s trying to operate outside of the semantics that ‘systems’ require for them to exist. As soon as we put a label on it, it immediately begins to conjure preexisting things to mind or be connected to preexisting things.

Mardukite was a word not well known prior. It appears in a few books by Zecharia Sitchin describing the factions in Babylon, but in our modern understanding, even in the “Ancient Alien Theory”, it was not yet really used. And so, my reason for adopting it was for that – it did not have already a pre-organized set of meanings applied to it. Of course, it does beg the question of, ‘okay, well, who is Marduk’? It would be the closest thing for me, but that is not to say its a religion or what I am – but it does help to clarify and validate the self-honest truth of people’s religious beliefs, wherever they are coming from; whatever background they have with that.

A lot of the beliefs do stem from this. And that actually goes back to what I was going to say earlier; is that these original tablets in Babylon where the cuneiform writing really got popular – it actually created the ‘oldest religious’ collection of knowledge that we have on the planet and it further influenced all of the rest.

The Epic of Creation, which is actually misappropriated as Sumerian – the Enuma Elis – it’s one of our most famous archetypal, its like embedded in consciousness, this story. It’s actually Babylonian, it isn’t a Sumerian story. It parallels some elements in Sumerian stories regarding the battling of a ‘great dragon’ to show supremacy over the universe. But, as it is given in the ‘seven tablets of creation’ or the ‘seven days of creation’ or so forth, which led to the Judeo-Christian Genesis, it is actually a Babylonian story used to elevate the position of Marduk above the gods.

(37:30)

It describes an ancient primordial dragon that rises from the ‘abyss’ that eventually gives birth to a race of gods. This is where we get the version of ‘he slays it in half and uses the head to form the heavens and the body to form the earth’ of this therefore fragments existence to make possible a physical reality, rather than a purely ‘ethereal’ or ‘spiritual’ one…
