DRUIDRY – Craft of the Wise, Mentor’s Last Words, Druidic Wisdom

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

Following dozens of titles during his prolific writing career, the final work released by Joshua Free before his sudden disappearance in February 2012, Druidry: The Wisdom of Dragon Kings, Wizards, Druids and the Pheryllt, reveals a concise analysis of Druidic Wisdom unlike ever seen before.

“Never would I have imagined that the magnum opus of my work with Druidry in this life took so relatively ‘long’ to put forth – but perhaps I should not be as surprised, for the mysteries of the Druid are not simply ‘learned’, but ‘lived’ and ‘experienced’. The lessons are never truly ‘over’, and the path of the seeker goes on following a continuous flow – moving closer and closer to the oneness and unifying wholeness that is the very beauty and harmony reflected in Nature, in all of its existences, manifestations and expressions throughout the universe.” (from the Preface by Joshua Free to Druidry, released February 2012)

“It is curious to me that I should be ‘here’ now as I write these words – so far and removed from the places I have known, for the most part alone to graze upon foreign lands even now, after so long a journey already encompassed. The task of relaying the wisdom and teachings of Druidry is not something I take lightly; for though my explorations into Mesopotamia, the Anunnaki and other facets of ‘magick’ and ‘occultism’ may have earned me (or my name) the most recognition, it is Druidry – or at least my ‘Druidry’ – that I consider the height of what the modern ‘New Age’ has had to offer in and among a host of varying revivals from all cultures and pantheons come and gone – and even a few constructed within the last centuries that have been given life by a host of followers and wouldbe cult members.” (Preface to Druidry: The Wisdom of Dragon Kings, Wizards, Druids and the Pheryllt).

“The current discourse, Druidry, is an interesting project for me to return to, being that it was at first started many years ago, during my time in the ‘New Age’ scene of the 1990′s as “Merlyn Stone”. My quest to fully represent the Druids, their methodology, beliefs and revival efforts has never been fully realized until now – and even then as part of a long line of volumes over several years that are only recently being brought to public light from the underground.” (from Druidry)

“My previously released discourse concerning the Celtic Druids, known as “Liber-D” in the catalogue of the Mardukite Chamberlains, and currently available to the public as “Book of Elven-Faerie” is actually a composite, in itself, of three different books, only one of which (the first part) was actually given much attention within the corpus of the Mardukite Research & Development. This is also known as “Druids of the Necronomicon” and is the literary project (completed in early 2006) that served as the basis of the modern Mardukite movement (which was founded on the Summer Solstice, 2008). Two significant texts appear in “Book of Elven-Faerie” other than “Liber-D”: the Elven-Faerie Grimoire and the Greenwood Forest Grimoire.” (from Druidry)

“Already encompassed within the text of the aforementioned Book of Elven-Faerie is a critical history of the development of ‘Danubian’ and ‘Welsh’ Druidism among the Ancient Celts, the practices able to be revived today that some would consider ‘contemporary New Age’ in nature, the ritual use of elements and those called ‘elementals’ as well as the physical and ‘metaphysical’ properties of the forest and trees. If this were not enough, some of the earliest materials that I was involved with during my 20 years in this ‘craft’ were recently re-investigated, rearranged, revised and enlarged as the Draconomicon (D2), which is mainly concerned with the ‘Dragon Legacy’ prevalent in the origins of the Druids as they expanded the traditions of the prehistoric ‘Dragon Legacy’ from Mesopotamia, rising during the age of Babylonian and Egypytian heights. With the three volumes available in the Book of Elven-Faerie, this makes four texts thus far that have all contributed to the ‘completeness’ sought in my renderings concerning the Druids.” (from the Preface by Joshua Free to Druidry, released February 2012)

Druidism, Secret Life of Elves & Fairies, Book of Elven-Faerie

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

“Prior information concerning the transition of beings between worlds have mainly focused on the moments when the Otherworld beings will come to inhabit the surface world of Men. The story of Robert Kirk is amazing because it chronicles a man who went into the Otherworld, became an initiate of the Elven-Ffayrie Tradition and returned able to share it. We are not referring to anything like the use of guided meditation or other “New Age” concepts – Reverend Robert Kirk was able to physically access the Otherworld like no other mortal in recently recorded history. What’s more, he was able to gain access on repeated occasions, not simply by happenstance or coincidence. He was even allowed to keep a journal and sketch-diary of his adventures and accounts. The legacy of Robert Kirk’s life and work is so monumental for the modern pursuits and studies of the Elven-Ffayrie that I am often wary of resources that make no mention of these accounts, even in passing.” (Excerpted from the Book of Elven-Faerie by Joshua Free)

“Elemental or mortal transitions, as well as contact with any type of “nature spirits” requires appropriate conditions or circumstances as well as the ability to direct or channel large amounts of energy. During appropriate times, Kirk was able to return to the same ‘Faerie Howe,’ or hollow hill and gain entrance at will. I make mention of these things to entice you, for the story of Rev. Robert Kirk truly should begin, well, at the beginning…” (Liber-D)

[The Book of Elven-Faerie: Secrets of the Druids is perhaps the very genesis of the modern 'mardukite' movement, privately released by prolific writer, Joshua Free, in 2006. Within these pages you will follow the ancient traditions of Mesopotamia (Sumerian, Babylonian) as they evolve into the mystical, mythical and societal systems of Western Europe.]

“Robert Kirk was born in the year 1644, the seventh son of an Episcopalian minister. Kirk later became a minister himself, in his home parish of Aberfoyle (Perthshire, Scotland.) While a devout Christian, Kirk was actually interested and influenced by Faerie-lore his entire life, though he was unable to accept “magick.” He did, however, see the importance in preserving the magickal and ancient Gaelic-Welsh language, and oversaw a Gaelic translation of the Holy Bible, personally translating the Psalms and Proverbs. Kirk’s missionary work was like the Bardic Culdee of the past who preserved the Celtic and Drwyd symbolism in the Book of Kells, an “illuminated” manuscript of the Four Gospels in the Gaelic language.” (Book of Elven-Faerie)

“It is clear (to the present author at least) that Robert Kirk was never really intending on becoming a monumental “New Age” figure or advocate for the “occult” and ‘mystery traditions’ of the fey. In his writing, however, he does display at least a familiarity with archaic Hermetic-Gnostic and Rosicrucian doctrine, and makes references to such in “The Secret Commonwealth of Elves, Fauns and Faeries.” The nature of Kirk’s personal research is unclear, but it is likely that he would have had access to obscure manuscripts as an esteemed member of the Clergy. With a strict religious upbringing, he would have been reluctant to delve into metaphysical matters, and it comes as no surprise that his ‘pagan’ interests were a concern to his father.” (Liber-D)

[In Book of Elven-Faerie by Joshua Free discover how the most arcane practices actually shaped the beliefs of the western world and learn how mystical lineages of modern "folk magic" can be actually traced through the evolution of human civilization on the planet - all the way back to the ancient Anunnaki and becoming the practices of the Tuatha de Dannan (Tuatha d'Anu) and other Celtic Druid tribes.]

“The infamous “Faerie Howe” where Robert Kirk’s body was eventually found, was a place that he had visited frequently throughout his life. One day, Kirk actually discovered, or rather was revealed, the entrance to the “Faerieland Otherworld.” By means of a special knock at the right times of month and day, Kirk would be granted repeated access to the alternate dimension. In his published accounts, except for the recently released “Secret Lives of Elves and Faerie,” his private journals, he does not always speak of these matters concerning the Otherworld in first person. He prefers instead to attribute these reports to those seers he has interviewed as part of the research. His work was based on journals from 1688-1692 implying four years of practical “Otherworld Initiation” to compliment his research in folklore.” (From the Book of Elven-Faerie: Secrets of the Druids by Joshua Free)

““The Secret Commonwealth of Elves” was never published in its complete state, and was never in print at all during Robert Kirk’s lifetime. Some scholars believe that any first person references concerning mysticism, the Otherworld Tradition and the Elven-Ffayrie encounters themselves, were replaced as “accounts from seers” or edited out of the manuscript altogether before eventually being published into a Christian society as authored by a Christian minister. In spite of this, Kirk emphasizes and insists that there is no real conflict found between his own religious beliefs and what he comes to learn and experience concerning the Elven- Ffayrie. The only real contradiction emerges in the minds of Fundamentalist Christians who see these beings as demons and devils. Kirk even goes as far as to say that he feels that it is his mission to clarify the misconceptions concerning the fey among his Christian brethren.” (Liber-D)

[Ever popular in the underground, Book of Elven-Faerie includes the complete 'Druids of the Necronomicon' discourse with its corresponding "Grimoires" of Elven-Faerie and forest magick traditions, bringing a complete Elvish Tradition to the light of the mortal world for the first time in printed history.]

“It may very well be that the Antiquarian writers of Robert Kirk’s time period, continuing with the Brothers’ Grimm, John Aubrey and Iolo Morganwg (to mention a few) all felt that there was a part of folklore and the Faerie Tradition hidden within, that was quickly disappearing from contemporary society. More modern reconstructionists like myself, Andrew Lang, R.J. Stewart and John Matthews have felt the same in the sense that the Elven-Faerie Tradition, as well as the legacy and involvement of Robert Kirk as part of the tradition, must be preserved without fail.” (Book of Elven-Faerie)

“After a disturbing encounter in Faerieland concerning a chance episode with a solitary Dark Elf, Robert Kirk took it upon himself to seek out the city of the Unseelie Court and attempt to apologize for the rise in tension resulting from his appearance in the Otherworld. Apparently, he had not yet realized that by actually setting foot on the ground of the Dark Elves, he was in violation of the most severe of Unseelie laws. The Unseelie Court sentenced him to death, but the Seelie Court intervened and decided instead that Kirk should remain forever “prisoner” in the Otherworld. This permanent transition would still leave his physical body dead in the Middle World. He is allowed one night to set his affairs in order in the ‘Lands Above’ in good faith, of which he leaves his journals behind for his son, then returns for his sentence.” (Liber-D)

“Some time after Kirk’s death, he appears to a relative and claims that he will again appear at the Christening of her daughter. At that time, her husband is to throw a dagger at the apparition and if so, then the enchantment of the Faerieland would be broken and he could return to the Middle World. When the Christening came and Kirk appeared, those present were so astounded that they did not move to throw a dagger and so Kirk remained in the Otherworld. Years after, another attempt is made toward the family that resided in Kirk’s house at the time. They are informed by a vision of him to baptize their child in that room and stab a dagger in the seat of the chair where Kirk sat to write. If they did this, then he would be free again. Again, this is not tried and Robert Kirk is never freed, showing again that many folk still live in a dark age of ignorance where they cannot even come to conceive of that which they are forced to behold. Perhaps the Otherworld simply was indeed Kirk’s fate.”

[Book of Elven-Faerie actually restores the historical basis of the modern "New Age" movements resulting from one Seeker's pursuits into the origins of the "Druids.]

Anunnaki Legacy, Sumerian & Babylonian Studies for Today, interview Part XI

Joshua Free (continued): We started publishing our materials not because we wanted to make a whole bunch of books but because we felt it necessary to begin cataloging as time went on. Originally they weren’t available to the public at all. For the first couple of years, if you weren’t pretty intimately involved, the you didn’t know that we were doing it. It has since expanded considerably, but even that, you mentioned that there were twenty or thirty books.
It is important when people go to look at those that they pay carefully attention to the descriptions for the works, because a lot time what we would do is, during the course of the year there might be several manifestos that came out as they were developed that could be used to work through the year more easily. So, we would put them out there, people could use them in the course of that year’s study and research. When enough of that had been culminated we would put out anthologies so that it would be not only more economical in a single volume, but it was prestigious for the people that were working on it to see this kind of stuff come into manifestation.

(46:30)

Of the thirty titles, there are probably maybe fifteen or so actual individual books that I have written over the course of the years. A lot of them have been put together to make anthologies which compose a lot of the other titles. I want to make sure to say this so when people see this they are not overwhelmed by the work we have done.

In answering that too, though, I’m just now – it should be available within the week or so – we’re actually answering a ‘call’ that many people have put out to produce a monthly periodical; a magazine; that is dedicated to the work. This not only helps bring out the new information and findings easier, but also to break down what has become volumes and volumes of information into a synthesis that people can absorb a little easier. Also, with our economic age, it can be difficult to sometimes always go out and get all of these books, whereas incrementing it in a monthly form, it will really help bring it to people more accessibly then we have even before.

And that is what a division of our group, which from the publishing company perspective, we were focusing on the birth of cuneiform tablets and the language; our focus has just kind of remained with that: – interpreting and translating written work and transferring it in the literary form. I’ve done YouTube and lectures and workshops and all of that, but it really comes back to the writings and the books, whether our own or clay tablets.

(48:40)

The Judeo-Christian tradition isn’t so much like that, because you have a few people that are actually ‘with’ the writings and then you have enough other people; parents give it to us, or we go to Sunday School and so forth. In this day in age, if you want to get to next step as it stands right now, it requires a little bit of an initiative, just because it is not so commonplace and it is not so present yet in our world.

This is changing. I mean, more people are becoming ‘apt’ to this every day, but still it will require more of this. In addition to the other books, I believe amazon has agreed to carry the magazine as well. So, I believe it will break it down in an economical and concise way without always having to dig into the archives of books. We’re trying to think of everything and every way that we can relay it that makes sense.

(50:00)

Royce Holleman: Does your website have membership attached to it so that it could have forums people can join and discuss?

Joshua Free: There is a forum. There is a link. In addition to the website you mentioned, we also have our library at mardukite.com, so it’s easy to type in and get there. But, yes, there is a forum. It does require to contact us, for some of the obvious reasons. The work we do, is not of course, necessarily popular among everybody and to avoid a lot of stuff, it requires someone to contact us from that page to join, but there is a link to it from there.

As far as membership. We are not really about titles and fees and keeping track of where people live, and all of that kind of stuff. We do have people that participate with us and we call them members, but there aren’t any fees or titles really connected too much with that…

Ancient Aliens Theorists Reject Answers, Prefer Endless Theory | Joshua Free Part X

Joshua Free (continued): By the time of the Babylonians you have for the first time a magical tradition among the people; you have people being able to conduct rituals on their own to petition the gods using, basically, Marduk’s usurpation of power. And so you have a new ‘vision’ of the pantheon. They are known sometimes as the Seven; it’s related to the Seven main ‘stages’ or ‘gates’ of the ziggurat in Babylon. There is a different way of perceiving the world then there was before. Of course, what that opens up the door for is further ‘fragmentations’ from that. And so, if it ‘can be done once’, then it ‘can be done again’, and so for thousands of years since we’ve seen evolving traditions and spirituality and ways of viewing things.

Each one in and of themselves – it seems to valid itself because it uses semantics or vocabulary to its own system so that it can make sense – but, all of humanity and all of civilization in that respect has a singular unifying source that becomes evolved from and branched out from the tree from, and I guess in the time frame that we have here on earth and what we are given, it has just made the most sense to me to go back to that.

So, I don’t really want to say that verbatim, I am reconstructing or personally adopting a revival of the Babylonian or Anunnaki religion as it once was, but rather ‘reconstructing’ what it actually was and reevaluating what I believe, what anyone, can perceive of their reality or beliefs about “religion” for lack of a better word.

(43:20)

I try to avoid the ‘religion’ topic. We started the group officially in 2008 as Mardukite Ministries, and unfortunately with the use of – we use the ankh and a lot of, you know, we talk about ‘religion’ a lot – it kind of makes it appear that I can’t separate between a ‘religion’ and a ‘science’ or a ‘mysticism’ or whatever, because they are all the same, they are just different words. “Religion” as a word raises a lot of flags with people, so I’ve tried to steer clear of that, but I think it does validate what people believe about their own – or that they could have a better understanding about their own – perception of religion.

Unfortunately, even just adopting the term ministries, you mentioned, of course, the “Ancient Aliens Theory”, and this is something that’s becoming increasingly popular because of the recent ‘History Channel’ show.

Royce Holleman: Yes.

Joshua Free: What actually kept me from being involved with that show is the adoption of, for example, the term ministries. They felt that I run an ‘alien cult’ and that we are not intellectual in this at all or pursuing it academically, they think we just are these ‘religious fanatics’ that are like ‘let us worship aliens’, and I’m just like ‘Wow!’, apparently I have not relayed my message clearly.

Royce: [laughs]

(45:00)

Joshua: It makes me stop to think, is that not what other people might also being thinking, which is preventing them from looking into the work we are doing.

We started publishing our materials not because we wanted to make a whole bunch of books but because we felt it necessary to begin cataloging as time went on. Originally they weren’t available to the public at all. For the first couple of years, if you weren’t pretty intimately involved, the you didn’t know that we were doing it. Sumerian Anunnaki Religion & Spirituality, Cuneiform Tablets & Babylonian Magick
an evening with Joshua Free
PART IX

(37:30)

Joshua Free (continued): It [the Enuma Elis] describes an ancient primordial dragon that rises from the ‘abyss’ that eventually gives birth to a race of gods. The gods further reproduce; several generations are described; and then it says that they ‘grew too noisy’. As a result there is a plot this dragon Tiamat has to destroy her children, the Anunnaki. Well, actually Anunnaki means ‘those who came down from heaven to earth’ and this is prior to them coming to earth, so it is the figures later referred to as Anunnaki. So the Anunnaki petition Marduk to fight on their behalf against the ‘ancient dragon’. And he says, ‘well, if I do all of this, you will have to make me king among you since none of you are going to do this.’ And according to the tablets they agree to this. He goes and slays the beast. This is where we get the version of ‘he slays it in half and uses the head to form the heavens and the body to form the earth’ of this therefore fragments existence to make possible a physical reality, rather than a purely ‘ethereal’ or ‘spiritual’ one.

This story is the basis of so many other ‘myths’ or ways of interpreting our creation ever since. From the universe is a dragon or slaying the dragon to show supremacy. These things all are very metaphorical. There are a lot of chronological – looking at the actual tablets academically – there are a lot of reasons why, even if we assume the history of the Anunnaki to be correct, there are a lot of reasons why this event, this dragon-slaying or war-in-heaven as it is relayed to us this way, did not take place. It’s more concerned with the politics of the Anunnaki and their life.

(40:00)

More importantly, it created a religious fragmentation that had never existed before. Prior to this in pre-Babylonian times you have a very simplistic Enlilite – just, things are the way they are, created to serve the gods and whatever they needed and we are kind of left to ourselves later with the kings put in place.

In Babylon you have the first alteration of that and separation where rather than a pantheon being observed the way it had been peacefully for so long – now you have Marduk appearing as the ‘King of the Gods’. It’s easy to sit back and think that these people are being dishonest, but all of the things that came from this; it is why all of the things in our world are the way they are today, for better or worse.

It’s bringing the knowledge and power and mysticism and access to spirituality down to the people. This is something unheard of before. Prior, people would go to the temples and the priests were the only ones who could petition to the Anunnaki on their behalf and bring the offerings to the temple where that deity was assumed to reside or frequently visit and a statue or representation was left in its stead.

(41:20)

By the time of the Babylonians you have for the first time a magical tradition among the people; you have people being able to conduct rituals on their own to petition the gods using, basically, Marduk’s usurpation of power. And so you have a new ‘vision’ of the pantheon. They are known sometimes as the Seven; it’s related to the Seven main ‘stages’ or ‘gates’ of the ziggurat in Babylon.
