The cycle of literary incantations are connected to a “festival-like” ceremonial observance of nearly similar importance as that of the New Year Akitu celebration. “What is known specifically as the ‘Maqlu’ or ‘Maklu’ cycle is a literary tablet series of nine Babylonian tablets illustrating an extensive ritual (potentially nine-days in some versions) during which the priests and priest-scribes of the Old Ways call on the powers of the Anunnaki Chief Gods, including the Supernal Trinity: Anu, Enki, Enlil and their sympathetic offspring, such as Marduk, Shammash, to “curse,” “banish”, “exorcise” and/or “burn” all of the “evil” and evil-doers of the world.” (See Liber N)

“Ceremonial recitation of Mesopotamian tablets in the Maqlu series could be publicly used by the priests to counter the actions made by the “wicked magick-users” in the land, especially when they have made a specific person or force their target. Some kind of representation would be made to be the ‘target’ of all of the evils in the land or else the specific plight that seemed to ail the people at a particular time. A waxen doll may be cursed over a flame and then melted into a cauldron (e.g. Aga Mass Ssaratu).” (see the Necronomicon Anunnaki Bible.)

“As an “astral ceremony” in the Maqlu practitioner would “climb the ladder of lights” and appeal to the Gods for their protection and for the destruction of the enemy and all evil-doers and wicked witches and warlocks of the world. In essence, the ceremony becomes a “chaincurse” that is projected out to extend far and beyond the immediate environment of the religious priest as a “public service” meant to “purge” the Earth. Various portions of the tablets show a striking resemblance to similar incantations found on other Mesopotamian & Semitic tablets.” (see also Liber R)

“The underlying intention behind such rites becomes clear: to prove an appeal to the Higher Powers of which is also the life-source of the Evil Sorcerer’s magick (or any energetic currents that pervade the land), to cut them off from that source by the pious appeal to the Anunnaki races, and finally the “belittlement” or “dispersal” of their energies – often “washed away in waters” or, as can be seen often in the Burning Rites, “incineration by fire.” (Liber R may be found in the Gates of the Necronomicon anthology or as Necronomicon Revelations.)
